Congratulations to this week’s Climate Community Citizen of the Week Ally Maize, founder of Green Youth Movement.
We first met Ally of a tree planting project that took place on Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills Ca. Recently Ally was a volunteer at our eco-bash held with The Green Girls. We are so pleased to finally have Ally as one of our weekly winners….
An enormously popular proportion of this year's LA Fashion Week came in the form of eco-friendly/enviromently conscious motivating fashion inspirations that focused on beautiful and stylish, natural, organic fabulous clothes. The Los Angeles-based nonprofit, the Green Youth Movement (GYM) presented a gatherinf of glitz and glamour meets runway elegance with its: "THE GREEN INITIATIVE: Humanitarian Fashion Show" held at the Sunset Gower Studios, in Hollywood, California.
"We are students who are concerned about the environment. Our Mission is to educate kids and teens about enviromental awareness, eco-friendly behavior and small steps that can make a big difference for the future!"

Green Youth Movement founder Ally Maize, 16, is the recipient of a $1,000 savings bond after being named “ABC Cool Kid,” by the Channel 7 station for her efforts to promote greener lifestyles through education in local schools.
When she first clicked on the Prius Web site, Ally Maize realized she cared more about going green, than what color car she would look good driving into Archer School for Girls parking lot.
Green teens present former vice president with 'inspiration award' for his work motivating the next generation of environmentalists.
Product Review: Live Green Kit: I really appreciate when something like this is brought to my attention! I’d like to start by telling you about the non-profit organization, Green Youth Movement. This organization, founded by 17 year old Ally Maize, started with the simple idea of teaching kids how to be “green”. Ally and other environmentalist teens have made a big impact on the world with the Green Youth Movement! Way to go!!! Their mission is to educate kids and teens about environmental awareness, eco-friendly behavior and small steps that collectively embraced by this age-group can make a big difference for the future.
Ally Maize founded the Green Youth Movement, an organization that educates kids and teens about green living, when she was 15 years old. She stopped by Teen Advice to explain why you, as a teen, should care about saving the environment, and what you can do to get involved.
The Green Youth Movement (GYM) is comprised of students who are concerned about the environment. As an Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization founded by Ally Maize at the young age of 15, GYM aims to educate kids and teens about environmental awareness, green living and sustainability. Collectively, this age group can make a big difference in reducing environmental impacts for a brighter, greener future. For more information and/or to get involved, please visit www.greenyouthmovement.org.

Ally Maize and Fellow Green Teens Thank Former Vice President for Spreading Environmental Awareness
Los Angeles, CA - November 16, 2009 - Former Vice President Al Gore's commitment to spreading environmental awareness has inspired millions of people to rethink how their individual actions impact the planet. For 17-year-old Ally Maize, Los Angeles' resident "green" teen and founder of local nonprofit, Green Youth Movement (GYM), this was no exception. After watching "An Inconvenient Truth" at the young age of 15, Maize was inspired to promote green living and sustainable education amongst her peers, and has grown the Green Youth Movement into a formidable force in the community. To thank the former vice president for inspiring the Green Youth Movement, Maize and her fellow green teens presented Mr. Gore with The Green Youth Movement Inspiration Award 2009 last Thursday, November 12 at the Saban Theater in Los Angeles.
EEK!-o-friendly tips for a greener Halloween
Here’s a scary Halloween fact: Consumers spent $1.4 billion on Halloween decorations in 2007, including everything from plastic ornaments to throw-away utensils.
As the second biggest holiday for decorating after Christmas, Halloween negatively impacts the environment by generating a lot of waste. Ally Maize, LA’s resident “green” teen and founder of local nonprofit, the Green Youth Movement, is urging communities nationwide to reduce their environmental impact this Halloween with some simple, easy-to-do tips. Here are a few things that Ally, along with the help of GreenHalloween.org, is doing to ensure every step of her Halloween preparations are “eek-o” friendly.
